Cherries are ripe with delicious health benefits.
They are small, but the little cherry is indeed powerful. Not only these delicious red fruit are an aid in actually relieving inflammation and pain, the naturally-occurring melatonin present in it may help restoring one’s irregular sleep patterns. And they are anti-cancer. Actually, many ingredients that we can use in juicing are. Check out our Juicers and Recipes ingredients page to find out more 🙂
These drupes (not berries!) are an incredible source of anthocyanins. These are antioxidants that give cherries their deep red color, and they help to stop a number of enzymes that can cause inflammation. Thus these antioxidants have a huge role in potentially preventing many kinds of pain.
The most important aid in the pain field seems to be the relief from gout. Gout is a form of arthritis. It happens when uric acid crystals accumulate in the joints, which thus leads to pain and inflammation. Studies have revealed that the cherry can significantly decrease the levels of uric acid, and limiting the formation of the crystals that induce gout.
Cherries can also relieve the pain caused by fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Pretty impressive!
Other antioxidants present in cherries are helpful in joint, respiratory and gastrointestinal health, and also aiding the fight against free radicals. Proanthocyanidins, another type of antioxidant present in it, can make blood vessels stronger and slow down the skin’s ageing process.
