After the award-winning 1st edition of The Juicing Bible, the second edition was published with more recipes (350 recipes in total), more health concerns, more illustrations of fruits, veggies and herbs, and an additional 16 color photographs, which takes the total photo count up to 32.

Meet the authors
Though Susan Eagles has also contributed to writing The Juicing bible, Pat Crocker has to be credited with the bulk of the input. She is an author, culinary herbalist and professional home economist from Neustadt, Ontario. Crocker has 25-years of experience with natural foods, and has written several other famous measurements including The Vegetarian Cook’s Bible and The Smoothies Bible. She came into limelight when the 1st edition of The Juicing Bible won the International Cookbook Revue Award in 2000.
What to expect from the juicing bible?
To have an idea what’s inside, let’s take a look at the table of contents with a brief description:
- Healthy body systems
The first section features a short discussion of technical stuff i.e. different systems of human body including immune system, endocrine system, musculoskeletal system, nervous system and respiratory system. You’ll also learn basic details about several ailments e.g. memory loss, arthritis, osteoporosis, muscle spasms, anxiety, depression, asthma and allergies.
You can skip this part, but this will give you a strong understanding about the basic functionalities of our body and its systems to help you comprehend how different foods and juices can be useful under certain circumstances.
- Health conditions
This alphabetically organized section lists several diseases including cancer, headaches, indigestion etc., with their remedies and healing drinks.
- Healthy foods
Again this section is organized alphabetically, but talks about the fruits and vegetables. You’ll also learn the benefits of each item besides tips on buying, consuming and storing it.
- The recipes: Fruit and vegetable juices
This section (is our favorite and) has delicious and healthy recipes of fruit and vegetable juices, tonics, cleansers, digestives, teas, roughies, smoothies, milk and coffee substitutes plus some frozen treats.
- Juices for healthy bodies
This section covers juice recipes to improve your health e.g. heart-healthy tonics, respiratory juices, muscle powers, nerve nourishers, immunity boosters, stress busters, tonics, cleansers and healing teas.
- Roughies and smoothies
It features more recipes, however, most of them are made from the leftover pulp.
- Specialty drinks
In this segment of The Juicing Bible, you’ll discover some unique and interesting recipes from melon cocktail to Indian Chai Tea to Apple-Orange punch, and the list goes on, and on.
- Frozen treats
If you have an ice cream machine, or even a masticating juicer, you will love this section. It teaches you to make mouthwatering cold treats such as Fruit Pulp Frozen yogurt, Sorbets, Strawberry-Beet Ice etc.
- Appendix A: Food allergies
- Appendix B: The elimination diet
- Appendix C: Herbs to avoid in pregnancy.
Author’s style
The book is written in an interesting, casual and simple tone; even the complex ideas are explained in a clear and organized manner. All the recipes are explained in a step-by-step style as if the writer is making it in front of you.

What’s annoying?
- A bit too technical – especially the first couple of sections, they probably won’t appeal to you if you’re simply interested in recipes – but of course it is easy to skip this section.
