This would mean substituting meals for freshly blended fruit and vegetable juices, without compromising your nutritional intake. The amount of weight one ultimately loses depends on how long they go on a juice diet for and what it is that they juice.
Juicing Rules of Thumb:
Before looking into how to start juicing for weight loss, it is important to remember two fundamental rules:
- Vegetables assist in more rapid juicing weight loss than fruits, owing to the high sugar content found in the latter. Hence, it is advised to restrict the consumption of fruit juices to the morning and juice a ratio of 80% vegetables and 20% fruits to beat that bulge and stay fit.
- Do not add artificial sugar or sugar replacements to juices. This will only increase calorie intake. The mixture of spices like cinnamon, ginger and pepper boosts ones metabolism, where as sugar makes it sluggish.
Juicing to Lose Weight
Citrus Green:
Ingredients: 1 pink peeled grapefruit, 2 peeled oranges, 1 bunch of mint and 1 head romaine lettuce.
Method: Place all the ingredients in a juicer and blend them well.
The use of a Breville Juicer is recommended for this recipe which is known as a fat flushing recipe, to not only burn fat but also boost ones metabolism. This is a great concoction to kick start ones day.
Juicing all Greens:
Ingredients: 2 apples, ½ cucumber, 1 stick of celery, 1 small bunch of spinach, a handful of green leaves (watercress, parsley or lettuce) and ice cubes.
Method: Place the apples, cucumber, celery and spinach into the juicer. Once these are blended, add in the ice and the green leaves. Blend this for one more minute or until the liquid is smooth with no lumps.
This is a great detoxification juice recipe.
Fruity Super:
Ingredients: ½ peeled lime, 2 apples, ½ pineapple, ½ a medium cucumber, ½ ripe avocado, 300 grams of wheatgrass or use wheatgrass powder, 1 teaspoon of spirulina (dietary supplement), and ice cubes.
Method: Blend in the apples, pineapple, cucumber and lime first. Once the mixture is smooth; add the avocados, wheatgrass, spirulina and ice. Process until a non-lumpy nectar is obtained.
This is a good drink to enjoy mid-day as it provides the necessary energy required to carry on with other chores.
Juicing to lose weight fast
Ingredients: ½ large pineapple, 2 apples, ½ mug of Alfalfa sprouts, ½ mug of watercress, ½ mug of parsley, ½ mug of kale, ½ mug of broccoli, 1 teaspoon of wheatgrass powder, 2 ice cubes.
Methods: Process all the ingredients with the exception of the wheatgrass powder and ice until the mixture is even. Then add in the wheatgrass powder and stir while pouring into a glass of ice.
This one is great for boosting the body’s systems and helping not just with shedding excess fat and boosting ones metabolism, but for all other bodily processes as well.
Spinach and Apple:
Ingredients: 2-3 medium sized cubed apples, 2 cups of chopped spinach, a dash of lemon juice, ½ cup of red lettuce leaves of the carrot greens, ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper and 1 teaspoon of kosher salt.
Methods: Blend the apples, spinach, lettuce leaves or carrot greens, pepper and salt together well in a blender. Once the mixture is ready, stir in the lemon and drink up.

Daytime Juicing Recipes for Weight Loss:
Here are some other recipes which contain relatively fewer ingredients, can be consumed at any time during the day and are not necessarily meant to serve as meal replacements or special juices for weight loss. Since these are simpler overall, we like to think they are more suited for when on the go. These juices can also be enjoyed just before a meal to help reduce ones appetite.
Lemon and Watermelon:
Ingredients: 1 lemon, 1 cup of watermelon (seeded), 1 teaspoon of mint leaves.
Procedure: add all the ingredients in your juicing machine and blend until a red non-lumpy mixture is obtained. You can also juice some crushed ice with it and remember to save some of the mint leaves for garnish.
This is not only a great juice recipe for weight loss but also for helping to stay hydrated, owing to the abundant water content in the watermelon – what a beautiful fruit that is.

Celery and Beet:
Ingredients: 4-5 stalks of celery, 1 small beet, 1 cup of chopped spinach, 1 bunch of cilantro and 1 teaspoon of sea salt.
Method: Blend all the ingredients in a juicer until everything is nicely dissolved. Once you feel it is ready, pour into a separate glass and stir in some lemon juice to provide a twisty flavour.
This one is a great help to eliminate body waste and toxins that can accumulate within us.
Watercress and Carrot:
Ingredients: 1 cup of chopped watercress, 2-3 medium sized washed, peeled and cut carrots, 2 diced tomatoes, ½ cup of spinach, ½ cup of cilantro, 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of kosher salt.
Method: add in all the vegetables into the juicer and blend them at a high speed so as to extract the nectar properly. Remove the fluid from the juicer and pour into a glass and garnish with cilantro.
This is a juice which is recommended for consumption early in the morning.
A little tip as we conclude this juicing and weight loss marathon:
Not all of us that do juicing lose weight. But one of the first thing I was taught is to start each day by drinking a glass of lukewarm water with the juice of a freshly squeezed lime or lemon and one teaspoon of honey (optional). This helps to cleanse the body of all wastes accumulated through the night and flush out toxins. Whether or not you are juicing, we actually recommend starting each and every day like this.
