So, the start of another year beckons and this holiday season is absolutely littered with traditions, albeit none directly related to juicing but bear with me. A new year’s resolution is almost like an inseparable part of the end of year, slotting in nicely with the merry times, holiday cheer, good eating and gifts. I believe most of us would own up to making a new years resolution of some sort each year and surely at some point this vow has been directed at our health and physical appearance.
And so it should, our health is one of those things that we tend to take for granted – that is until we have health issues. As a man nearing 40 years of age, I am well aware that I need to be more conscious of the things I consume and care better for myself in order to maintain good health. I salute each and everyone that sets his or her sights on changing their lifestyle for the better. But this brings me to an important point:
New Year’s Resolutions and Overreaching …
There’s no shame in it, most of us have done it. We decide to make the change and become better, we go for it 110% and expect the results before the first month of the new year is over!
So why not just start out simple? 1 juice per day?
For instance, you could start by replacing 1 meal per day with a juice of your choice. Disciplined juicing – sticking to a plan
Some of us are good at following instructions but maybe not as good at devising the strategy. Fret not, there’s a lot of good books out there and I’d like to make mention of a couple. Crazy Sexy Diet: Eat Your Veggies, Ignite Your Spark, and Live Like You Mean It! is one, you can read a review of it here on the site.
Another book worth recommending is 7lbs in 7 Days Super Juice Diet, where you get a very specific blueprint to a 7 day diet and can really give juicing a good go and see if it works for you. Should that be the case, the book also contains a section on how to best incorporate juicing into your daily lifestyle. For more information see our review of the book.

Buy a new juicer for ‘inspiration’
It might sound somewhat peculiar but there is a lot of sense in that. To start with, any job is easier to get done if you have good tools and a good tool can enhance the pleasure of performing a task. Furthermore investigating in a juicer actually puts a positive pressure on us to make use of the new, shiny toy. For me, walking into the kitchen and seeing my juicer sitting on the counter top is more often then not a reminder: ‘Ah, let’s make some juice’ 🙂
We do of course have a section dedicated to Juicer Reviews but its also worth noting that Amazon has compiled a list of their bestselling juicing machines, a good place to start if you’re in the market:

Keeping a food / juice diary
I’ll admit that I have no experience when it comes to implementing a food diary, but I have read great things and know that this is for instance a tried and tested tactic in Weightwatchers.
I had a little look around and discovered some really interesting options, in case you want to look into this. Lean Mode, Color Code – Not Your Usual Food Diary and as the name implies it makes use of color coding for tracking eating habits, establishing and changing patterns.
If you want to add some exercise to the mix, then the DietMinder Personal Food & Fitness Journal looks to be a suitable candidate and the reviews on Amazon are very favorable as well.
That’s all for today folks …
